A Group Story

Roleplaying is, at its core, a story told by a group of people. On this site you will find a number of rules, ideas, settings, and more that can guide any sort of story you want to tell. The point is that an RPG is just you and your party-members going on an adventure guided by a gamemaster, and while there might be a lot of numbers and "rules" here they are all irrelevant in the face of a fun story.

Terminology

Dice are usually referred to in terms of “# of dice” + d + “# of sides”. So, if you need to roll four six-sided dice, we could also say roll 4d6. Attributes are often shortened, so that Strength is spelled Str, Dexterity as Dex, Constitution as Con, Knowledge as Kno, Wits as Wit, and Charisma as Cha. The Modifier for any given Attribute (the + number added to skills), is often referred to as “Attribute” + mod or bonus. Such as Dex mod or Dex bonus. To differentiate the modifier from the raw attribute, it is usually called a score, such as your Str score, or Wits score.
